To Ireland We Go....AYE!

We arrive in Dublin after a quick one hour flight on a very small plane from Manchester, UK.  The security line at the Manchester Airport wins the worst security line award from Nan.  It is hard to find, and that turns out is because it’s in the basement...hidden away...so, a total surprise that there appears to be NO END to it as we weave our way down sets of stairs and along hallways past the folks standing in line...and I mean...LINE.  All in all it only took one hour, BUT, still...if felt like three.  Ah, but, in today’s world...I guess security is not going away.  Saw no place for a “Trusted Traveler line or Pre-check.”

We have booked a “StayCity Apart Hotel” near...(10 blocks) the Ha’ Penny Bridge and the Temple Bar area.  First stop on our afternoon walk, O’Connell Street and we follow along with Rick Steve’s book on Ireland and the walking tour guide.  The weather has turned lovely so no complaints there!

The River Liffey rises and falls a bit with the tide each day.  It’s a nice river walk on the right side.

In The Temple Bar we find a nod to James Joyce and lots and lots of customers.  So, we stop in...and out.

Back on our route to our new home for three nights we are hot and tired.  What a good idea floods into my head....a pint of something...and dinner.  O’Shea’s Merchant Pub fits the bill as we are suddenly on the door step and they are open!

Day two we hop on the Hop On Hop Off bus for a city tour.  It takes two hours!  In tiny print on the bottom of the ticket brochure is an offer for a free glass of Guinness at a Temple Bar area restaurant.  We’re on it!  And, it happens to be lunch time!

It’s off to find the stature of Molly Malone.  Sadly, no uke with me, so I can’t sing her the famous song about her life and sad end in Dublin’s fair city.

“Cockles, mussels, alive, alive-o...as she wheeled her wheel barrow through the streets wide and narrow...”

This chocolate shop looks way more interesting as far as food goes...so we buy a bar of chocolate...but not the Gunpowder and Gin one.

Christ Church Cathedral is near our place so we stop to find out the time for the end of day choral sung service and have a loop around the labyrinth.

The service is at 6 p.m.  We return before heading off to dinner.
Dublin is a busy busy city.  The weather has turned warm...well, hot.  Our thoughts about a plan for tomorrow turn to...the water and boats.  Of course they do!
