A Double Island Day...

Well, it IS a “Highland and Island” tour...so off we go to the isles of Luing and Easdale to see what we shall see.  Of course, first off we shall see a...ferry!  And water!  And islands!

Here’s our van loading onto this five vehicle vessel.  Passengers get to stand.  It’s a short ride, to the other side, and the island of Luing.

We’ve never quite seen a ferry ramp like this one.  Or, a ferry, actually.

We travelled south from Oban this morning, to get to the landing spot for the ferry, and then off to an island famous for...slate.

Lynette tells us she has scored some great pieces of slate on this beach, and they are perfect for serving cheese upon.  Never thought of that, but now we MUST have just the perfect pieces...which will be carried home, how?  Oh yes, in that small wheeled piece of luggage.  Surely it will be light as a feather.

Which will be the traveling cheese boards?

Boys will be boys.  You’ve seen him do this before....a lot.

There is a fabulous “Ocean Center” on the island with good displays...and yes, a coffee shop!  Ahhhh....perfect day for...

Hot Chocolate!  (And a little more)

Yes, I ate the WHOLE thing.  Yummy!

Then it’s off to Easdale by an even smaller ferry....the word is there is a good pub on this tiny island ....and...wait for it...it’s for sale!?

Waiting for the ferry.....

Here it is!

Limited passengers...limited schedule....

Once landed and up the walk, we find our greeter, “Tom.”  He escorts us to the main ferry...um...stone hut.

Inside the ferry waiting room is Tom’s bunk....and a library.

A different approach to moorage fees....

Now it’s off to the promised pub stop!

Somehow we once again return to the farmhouse....but late this afternoon Brian has a surprise for us...

First...a whiskey tasting with five different scotch whiskeys....

Second, Lynette has a surprise for Brian....a Surprise Birthday Party (one month early)!  So, a true surprise!

Third...Chef Jane  has a surprise for us...HAGGIS!  (It’s delicious!)

And can you guess that dessert is even more delicious?

I bet you are wondering...is the day over yet???....the answer...

Time for the evening music at the Barn Bar pub right next door!  Here we go...

Once again....it was a Good Day!
