Across the Bay of Biscay we go...
....pick up the pilot...
Today we take a shore excursion that includes a visit to an old walled city, a resort waterfront town called Concarneau and a look around Pont-Avon where the surroundings inspired artist Paul Gauguin. Oh, and then there is the incredible lunch with bottles of French wine.....
We have an excellent tour guide who has no problem telling us more than we can remember about each stop.
Yes, it's raining on the coast of France this day in May, but hey, we're from the Pacific Northwest! And yes, we are happy to have our rain jackets and Seattle Sombrero rain hats as traveling companions.
From ramparts and "windows" remaining from years long, long, ago, to the modern day, there's a photo at every turn. I find windows and doors fascinating.
What's a window without shutters?
And then there are the boats.
Can you still read French words, Steve? Or, how about labels on this display of...French candy?
Signs of the sea are everywhere.
Now, on to Pont-Aven and the small artist's community where Paul Gauguin spent his summers.
