If It's Monday...It Must Be Poros Town and Playing...Ukulele of Course!

What's this?  A weather change?  Bryan told us yesterday....oh, better get a kayak in today...it might "rain" a little tomorrow.  HA!  And so it did!

For our uke lesson today we find ourselves taking shelter in the kitchen, due to a big rain and wind storm.  Michael Adcock is our instructor and he takes all of us on...with a lesson on three different strums.   This guy is the "strum master" and I have my doubts about acquiring even a bit of this skill set...but we are here to give it all a try, whatever "IT" is.

Michael is an incredible ukulele player...and...16 years old.  Oh my!  You should watch this dude strum. We'll be seeing more of him performing in the ukulele world!

And just think, we'll be able to say...we were on Poros Island with Michael Adcock as one of the teachers for a week!  Uke lessons, meals, motor bike trip, dancing and soaking up Greece!  Who knew?

In the afternoon it's off to Poros town with Katerina as our personal guide, ukuleles on our backs.
A water taxi is ordered for us and off we go!

Our new friends have the perfect rain block for the open boat windows!

Landing in Poros town, we quickly take shelter from the downpour in a taverna...where Katerina magically has glasses of ouzo appear before us.  Ever the hostess!  We wait out the rain, with ease.

Tour leader extrodanire, Lynette, and our new uke buddy, Sue.

What I did not like....at age 20.... 48 years later, I love!  Surprise again!

One of the many pooches of Poros, buddies up to us...this is Glykoulis!

Soon it's time to begin our walking tour.  Katerina leads us through the fish market, down narrow walking streets and then up to the town clock tower.

Often in Greece, at a taverna by the sea, if you want fish for your meal, you choose the actual fish, it is weighed, and that is how the cost of your fish dinner is determined.

Chicken feet....and more at the market.

Greece, in a word...."stairs"....in two words, "stairs up"....and down, of course.

We stop by the church for a group photo op....yes, there is a uke in front of Steve's head...can you find him?

Another vista, from the top at the Poros clock tower hill.

Poros clock tower.

What goes up, must come down....and so we go...

Back in town, we stop for lunch, again hosted by Katerina, at a local taverna...super yummy gyros "sandwiches"....and of course, break out the ukes, and make new friends.  It's part of the uke magic!

Then a bit of free time before heading back to The Odyssey, our home for the week.  But wait...the sky opens again with a deluge of rain...so the only thing to do is take refuge in a coffee bar...before heading for the taxi stand.  Good thing we packed our rain gear...for Iceland...and it turns out, Greece!

Did you know that Fusion uke travel cases come with their own rain jackets?  Thank goodness!!!

Yes, that's water cascading down the stairs.

This night ends with another wonderful dinner and more music.  We take over a local hotel bar and jam the night away.
