Today we are off to Oban town for a morning walk around town and the waterfront and then....a tour of the Oban Distillery! How about whiskey after breakfast?! Well, to be fair, it was after 1:00 p.m. when we arrived in the tasting room!
Our guide is a lovely young woman who was SO knowledgeable about all things “whiskey”....the how and how long, and the what and the when and where of the whole process. I ask her how long she’d been with the distillery....(thinking YEARS....maybe even grew up in the business)...she replies, “Oh 6 weeks...I’m inbetween college terms!” Oh young brains...like sponges!
Our walkabout the waterfront is proof that Oban is a seafood spot. The mussels and cockles arrive by the crate full....and in no time are in a pan with plenty of garlic!
Take a gander at these crab claw open face “sandwiches!” Not sure you go about actually eating this!?
While we wait for the late afternoon ferry to the isle of Colonsay, out come the ukuleles.
Once it’s time to board, it’s to the upper deck we go....sunshine and beautiful scenery...oh, and flat water...great combination!
Although we have a lot of varied weather on this trip, there is actually some short sleeve and sunny sky time. A Scottish woman tells us:
“When the sun is out in Scotland, here’s what we say....Sun’s Out! Shirts Off!”
Just like in the San Juans...dress for all weather...so, out comes the scarf....and how about some wine?

We find a young couple to serenade....sorta like an audience (captive), but different!
Our fearless leader, Lynette, always has a song or two in her back pocket.
Here’s our new friend, Diane...who spends the winter in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and the summer in Wisconsin.
Mike hails from the Chicago area. You see, ukulele is spoken SO many places!
Ohhh, Jennifer! What ARE you thinking?
Our dinner aboard this ferry is delicious! Wow. Who knew ferry food could be so good? We are back at the dock...at dusk...headed once again back to the farmhouse.
It was a Good Day! Again!
