After two metro rides, we arrive at the far western edge of Paris and find our way along streets decked with Fall trees, to the Marmottan Museum where more than 100 Monet paintings are on display. Along the way we see reminders of our pup at home...we always miss him!
Purchasing an audio guide for about $3.00 we wander through the rooms full of impressionist paintings...including more water from the lily pond!
Here is the famous “Impression:Sunset” painting that started the name “impressionist”as far as a style of art. In the beginning it was thought of as terrible and could not be considered art at all. I guess it was too surreal, lacking definitive lines and shapes.
I love looking at the brush strokes up close....and I did!
The master himself....
Can you see the green bridge in the lily pond garden? Painted later in life, with failing eyesight....it’s still there....
Making our way back to the 7th district, we easily find the Musee Rodin and first things first....to the garden cafe for lunch!
Then, our first stop: The Thinker. Such a famous sculpture, reaching up to the incredibly blue sky...and so busy...thinking.
The second stop: The Kiss. If you have ever heard of Auguste Rodin, these two works of art are probably why. The museum has been created in the mansion where the artist once lived and worked. The house and gardens are filled with sculptures by Rodin, some of them depicting bits and pieces of his life experiences.
We get back to Hotel Muguet for a put your feet up rest and a little attention to packing up for tomorrow’s departure. Then we head our for a walk along The Seine and to find dinner.
Gotta love that three flight walk up after long days out and about....
Special bridge...one you don’t forget and a helpful landmark.
Evening is closing in. The river bank is full, FULL of young people out for Friday night happy hour and beyond.
We find a river barge restaurant and decide....it will either be good, fine enough or terrible. Why not? Truly, you can’t beat the view.
We walk back to the metro station...after dark...but wait, Paris is the City of Light!
I still haven’t had my crepe....
